Creating My Own Paradise

Hi there, my name is Andrea Adams. I am 24 years old and have recently graduated from Jacksonville University. For as long as I can remember, I’ve longed to travel. I guess you could say that I was struck with the wanderlust bug from an early age. With both of my parents in the military, moving was almost a yearly event but I viewed the process as more of an exciting new adventure. The thing that excited me most about moving was being in a new place, creating a new routine, and meeting new people. I may not have known it then but these three things would be the main factors to how I enrich my life presently. As time continued on I spent my high school and early college years pushing myself to get my degree and stay busy. Finishing my degree in late summer of 2020 was very difficult; I was working part time, completing a triple degree in business, and dealing with the panic of what to do during a pandemic in my early 20s. While I accomplished many of my goals, I realized that I wasn’t truly happy with my life and couldn’t seem to point out a specific thing that would improve it. All I knew was that I wanted to travel but I had no way to make that happen with being recently graduated and dealing with the pandemic. After a lot of thinking and counsel with my family, I decided to be more purposeful in my daily life and what I choose to do. Before this decision I could only see the bigger picture of what I thought would make me happy, but found that I struggled to appreciate the smaller achievements and events in my daily life.

With this blog, I’d like to share the new world that I am creating for myself and hopefully inspire you to take charge and do the same. I now believe that every day can be paradise if you choose to make it that way, through being purposeful with your time, energy, and intentions. By doing things that you can look back on and be proud of, surrounding yourself with people that help you grow, and making sure to be present in everything you choose to do, you might find yourself being content with the life you live now instead of always reaching for the next big thing like I was. It can be hard to put these things into practice but with time and intention, we can enhance the life that we have now and be purposeful in creating our own paradise.
